How To Be a Voice for the Hungry

  • Never underestimate word-of-mouth! Let those who are struggling to make balanced meals on a budget know about our program and that we are here to help! If we can’t help, we more than likely know of another resource they can lean on!
  • Reach out to us and schedule a representative to come out to your agency and speak about our program!
  • If you have a community center or location that is looking to host a NOURISH class, contact us!

FAQ

What does being a volunteer mean?

There are multiple volunteer roles within NOURISH, from packaging our ingredients for class attendees, assisting in the transportation of our class materials, helping facilitate classes, and connecting residents to our various resources.

I want to help but can't volunteer, how should I get involved?

Our program is always in need of help through financial support, consider donating to our cause!

What kind of non-perishable goods do you accept?

We accept any bulk non-perishable donations as well as kitchen staples such as salt, pepper, vegetable oil, and more.

Are you a 501(c)(3) organization?

NOURISH does not have 501(c)(3) status as we are a government program run through the Portage Township Trustee Office.

Are there any restrictions for being a volunteer?

We require that volunteers be at least 18 years old at the time of application as our program works with a vulnerable population within St. Joseph County.

We also ask that volunteers have a means to maintain communication such as a mobile device, as well as access to transportation.

Keep up to date with all our news and classes.
